RAROTONGA is the main island of Cook Islands and location for the capital town of Avarua, found on the northern coastline. About 5 minutes west of the capital is the International Airport and thousands of people arrive each year to enjoy relaxing tropical holidays on the island. Avarua is the main business and commercial centre for Cook Islands and has shops, museum, cafes, restaurants, business and government offices.

It takes only about 40 minutes to drive right around the island. Along the coastline are many villas, resorts, hotels and and apartments. For those holidaying on outer island destinations, such as Aitutaki and Mangaia, there are regional flights provided by Air Rarotonga from the International Airport.
